Who
Are We
Love1another
is a gathering of Christians and many of us are heterosexual. Most of
us came to question the church's position on homosexuality after we came
to know a gay Christian personally. Some of us have relatives, some friends,
but all of us came to believe that these people indeed are Christians
and that God loves them dearly.
We
are saddened that Scripture is used to exclude homosexuals from the church.
We are concerned that many churches reject gays because of habit ("That's
what I was always taught?") or because of prejudice. Many people
don't consider change in this area because they don't know a gay person,
therefore they exclude them based on how they may be represented by the
media.
It
seems very un-Christ-like to us to reject these believers, yet churches
have done it for years. Within the gay community, it is common knowledge
that Christians hate gays, a reality I'm sure saddens God. We aren't know
for our love... we're known for our hate.
Jesus
never said anything about homosexuality in the Bible. He did however,
call us to love, and we have chosen that path.
